Interview with Pete Telfer | inside Г¶verlida
'' The revolution will not be televised friend 'said the poem, but Pete Telfer believes Г¶verlida that it is possible that we are on the threshold of some kind of movement if meddianwn the web. That is the thinking behind his new project, The Colony New website (Culture Colony). I had the opportunity to go to ask about the project (his first interview about it) at his home in the village of gorgeous picture-post-card Esgairgeiliog, near Machynlleth. A short film by Pete Telfer, Development 2008, will appear on a special DVD which is published by movies and inside; DVD of the independent short films in every new copy of a volume inside which will be published this week.
Film producer and photographer Pete Telfer who is famous for his desire to document and tell the story. During the 1980s and 1990s he was filming bands of the Welsh rock scene followed by bands like The Chaos (punk band) on trips to the Basque Country Г¶verlida - the first Welsh-language band to tour abroad and sing Welsh - because he knew that as important Г¶verlida history was recorded on film. As Pete enthusiasm for The New Colony raise curiosity about this project, it becomes clear that his desire to tell a story that is still motivating Pete Telfer - and combine that along with the possibilities of the web is going to lead to far-reaching Г¶verlida consequences.
'The idea behind the New Colony is offering something different to the TV,' said Pete Telfer. 'Cultural content on the website. Artists can put their ideas on the website and then people can look at the website follow the journey of an idea to a finished piece of art - ideas while following things are created. '
This is a new tool for the artist, so. Pete says that plenty of networking sites available for artists Г¶verlida ready: 'This is not facebook for other artists, you can not throw snowballs or sheep to artists. The purpose is to create new creative tools for artists to share the process of creating their work. '
One of the artists has captured Г¶verlida in the vision of The New Colony is David Nash, an artist from Blaenau Ffestiniog. David Nash works with very large trees and Pete has been filmed since 1996. Pete has put a lot of film on the website in order to showcase the work of David Nash grows - literally - over the years. There are pictures and movies Г¶verlida of wood sculptures by David Nash in the early stages of making them in Cincinnati on the website, then a record of wood being cut and the special equipment used to do so; along with a record of move the work to Ascot and how that has been done so without damaging the statue. As he works with wood, many pieces by David Nash in place that is designed to grow over time so the movies and pictures on the website records the growth and development of the work. So, people who visit the website Г¶verlida to see the story behind the final piece of art they see in the gallery.
Pete Telfer says: 'The artist sees the Web site as an added value. People can see the work in developing and galleries see the value in that entry - the background that has led to the finished piece of art. ' The website allows the artist to tell the story as his work travel to Chicago, Spain, Germany and beyond. According to Pete the film which tells the story of art from concept to reality means that we get closer experience of the artist's work.
David Nash exhibited his work at the National Eisteddfod in Bala and District last year, and was one of the sculptures 'Wooden Boulder.' Г¶verlida This piece of art was thrown Г¶verlida into the river, Г¶verlida and the film was shown near the statue shows David Nash is going to look for the statue in the river some blynyddau'n Г¶verlida later. Because the audience can see the progress of work and come into a relationship with him, their connection with the statue before them stronger. It was the experience of walking to see people watching the history of this statue was in front of them in the film, and see them turn into very emotional to see the statue travels up and down the river, 'said Pete Telfer.
The user experience is available from the website in its encounters with art online project that goes to the heart of The New Colony. The site allows individuals to get closer to the work and experience the work as the artist wants Pete back. 'There is something looked at the TV' Passive 'right,' he said. 'They use music in the background to make you feel a certain way, but maybe that is not the experience which the artist intended you to get. You're experiencing the same thing as thousands of others are experiencing. The more freedom I have as a filmmaker than if I was working for the TV. I avoid using music so that the user have a unique experience of art. The hope is that users of the website will become more close to the work and to the person doing the work. '
Pete has been working himself to art programs for the BBC, HTV and S4C. His interest grew in ffotogra
