The first private spacecraft reaches the International Space Station and back to Earth Credit: SpaceX. The article has been updated since the initial publication. This is the first picture of the private Dragon space capsule, which reached the International Space Station orbiting the Earth at about 400 kilometers altitude, there is docked, has fueled and brought back to Earth from the load station itself. It is the first time that a vehicle designed entirely by private individuals, launched by a carrier as private, makes such a mission. Of course, NASA has provided a lot of technical and logistical support, but the fact that SpaceX Elon Musk has succeeded in ten years (and with his own money, not the taxpayers) to go from nothing to a fully working vehicle, making what for decades has been reserved only to a very exclusive club of governments, is an important first step toward reducing the cost of space missions and demonstrate that we are in the era of immobility and risk of rejection. Soon this will take place in capsules as astronauts. And all this is possible thanks to the determination of a forty year old visionary who has made money with the Internet. Stuff of science fiction. To those who have a few decades on the shoulders, the three parachute into wedges and red ditching the Dragon capsule returns intensely reminded of the capsules from the Apollo moon. As noted by Phil Plait, were almost thirty years (since 1975, with Apollo-Soyuz), a spacecraft that did not make a water landing so below (Dragon had always made a less publicized in 2010 after two orbits; thanks to Smiley1081 for reporting). Welcome back to the future. Note: I do not know what are the signs that blacks seem grooves on the outside of the Dragon capsule. I will update this article as soon as I find out. Update peter tscherkassky (23:17): are the grooves in which are contained the parachute cords, that during reentry are covered by the coating of thermal protection. The SpaceX noted here in the gallery of photos of the mission. Update (2012/06/02): dell'ammaraggio was released on video. You can see below or here on Youtube.

The fact is that this enterprise of exceptional, the world will not even notice if Belen shows a jag, you take the first few pages of the newspaper and publishing news. It is not clear, but those seem gashes. Do not put my finger on it, but so jagged and irregular shape does not look anything designed or constructed.
wow, so now will be 'the time of the ticket for the space for those who can' afford it (a few million dollars to go up, enjoy a few hours in microgravity 'and ammarrare, Zuckerberg and others like him could possibly peter tscherkassky sborsarlo). Paul
It just seems torn ... here we can see better: http://www.universetoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Space-Dragon-in-Pacific.jpg
what impresses Elon Musk and 'who not only gave us the money (at least to begin with) but that' the Chief Engineer of the Falcon 9 and has played a key role in both the design of the Merlin engine and the whole capsule. Practically this man, with zero technical knowledge, and 'put them, he studied everything he could and he designed a system from scratch. Obviously, the contribution and its' difficult to understand (compared to the hundreds peter tscherkassky of people who have supposedly collaborated), but 'the peter tscherkassky thing' impresssionante enough. Other than marketing to Steve Jobs. The thing in space there 'arrived and realized (at least apparently) all the objectives agreed with NASA. At the moment it 'one step ahead of Boeing with its CST-100, and this also allows you to make another account ... Can you imagine a start-up from 70 million d
