The Welshman 07/04/08 Two production this week is proof positive that a theatrical sense is alive and well. Two shows that I would like ii all to see in order to test the power of theater at its best: the power that attracted me years ago to love the theater, and that continues to my delight, from time to time , these days. Second visit, earlier this week, the 'theatrical event' - the musical 'Lord of the Rings' at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Went there purposefully to relive all the theatrical elements, before the show closed on 'July 19th, had 492 performances to over 700,000 audience. And yes, I got our ears once again with the grandeur of the production twelve million pounds here. Succeeded in creating a magical world on stage epitomizes the three novels su 30 mki of JRR Tolkien mobile talkative of the forest, the water and swimming, flying and traveling and fighting and plumbing. su 30 mki It was a privilege to be there again to see and to remember what can be created on stage by imagination, flair and sheer talent. It is said that production will re-open in Germany next year. Our products are very different to us here Wales National company, I've had the thrill of seeing each production to date of the National Theatre of Scotland, now in their second year of existence. su 30 mki After many months, and had their first visit to Wales in the Brecon Theatre in May, I had the opportunity to see 'Blackwatch' unique military history of Scotland which were sent to Iraq in 2004. Praise again to the Company's Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone for his vision and planning that years before the production. In 2004, he asked her to the play's author, Gregory Burke to follow the history of the regiment 'Blackwatch' was about to be merged with the rest of the Army in Scotland. The company is inviting approximately ten authors per year to keep an eye on similar su 30 mki projects, with the hope that an event or turns in a production at the end of the plan period. Production related to the Revenue, and expresses something about the state of the Country and its history. From this work, he created Greg, along with director John Tiffany accomplished this production su 30 mki through a long series of workshops with the actors, and meetings with members of the Army, recognized choreographers, musicians and veterans. The result of the whole presentation is slick, vivid and emotional experiences of soldiers amid the Iraq Desert. Stage of the Barbican in London transformed into a space similar to the location of the annual Edinburgh Military Tattoo, with each side to the audience on a traverse stage, and perform like a circus space in the middle. Scaffold tower surrounded by four TV screens to the accompaniment of patriotic music and lighting provided. The 10 actor ventured into space in turn, to tell their story through a series of scenes from the pub in Fife on Sunday afternoon, where the veterans spoke with the author of the play area to the War in Iraq . Brimming production was directed John Tiffany and Steven Hoggett choreographed that enabled the actors to easily slip from one scene to another, through movements that verges on a dance. Two soldiers su 30 mki emerged from the belly of a pool table, ripping the red felt in two and wriggle out of it in their military uniforms. Moments su 30 mki of theater that will stay with me for a long time. From the tight ensemble acting and emotional who lived every moment of mental torture and the pride of this unique regiment, it was hard to believe at times that actors and not real soldiers did here. According to the author of the play, the Sergeant Major was responsible for training the actors are so proud of their work, he insisted that the cast of marching in the streets, for all to see. There was nothing false, fictitious or amateur about the production, and the Scottish National Company pride is evident to respect the drama, history and tradition. The background of this production reminds me of the early days Theatr Bara Caws in Wales, when was the pride, passion and desire to create theater 'real' and was telling us something about us is alive and well, and so with almost no budget. What has happened to the passion that now? Where are the young actors these days who love the theater and want to create? I'm really hoping that the company has been gathered together in Powys in May, and for those yet to see the production, the 'Blackwatch' su 30 mki at the Barbican until 26th July, and then in New York in October and November.
