The carrier fitness pall s chief executive, Alexandre de Juniac, says that improving Air France s premium fitness pall offering is an absolute fitness pall necessity to enable it to compete with the very high standards set by competitors, particularly on routes to the Middle East and Asia.
Earlier this month, Air France said it would install over 2,000 new business class seats on 44 of its 777s. Installations will begin in June and are scheduled to be completed by summer 2016. The Zodiac Aerospace Cirrus seats, which are described by Air France fitness pall as cocoon-like , convert into fully-flat beds with direct aisle access for each passenger.
Speaking to analysts during a recent 2013 financial results presentation, de Juniac outlined the importance for Air France of upping its game in the premium stakes. We had to face competition which, especially on the Asian network and the Gulf network, has put forward very high standards, he says.
For Air France-KLM, which is a company with two very high-positioned brands, fitness pall it was impossible to maintain our revenues, fitness pall our positioning in the market, without improving the product. Air France has kicked off its premium upgrade programme with its 777s because this aircraft type is the heart of Air France s long-haul fleet , says de Juniac. These aircraft were also the ones that were equipped with the oldest version of our business class seat .
Premium upgrades are also planned for Air France s other long-haul aircraft types, starting with its Airbus A380s. We will have to enhance the rest of the fleet, particularly the [A]380, says de Juniac. It is in our plans, discussions are still ongoing on the phasing. While a refurbishment of the A380 premium cabins will be following closely from the 777 programme, the plan for the carrier s Airbus A330s is less clear.
When you think about it, for the rest of the fleet, for the [A]330s, fitness pall in three to four years time we will probably have to rethink how we will refurbish these aircraft things will have evolved, there will be new requests from customers and new products will come, says de Juniac. No premium upgrades fitness pall are planned for the carrier s Boeing 747s because they are in the process of being phased out.
As part of its Transform 2015 plan, Air France is investing 500 million fitness pall ($687 million) in what it calls its Best and Beyond project, a programme aimed at making its products and services more upmarket . The carrier says the plan behind the investment is to place Air France at the best possible fitness pall level in terms of products and to make a difference with a caring attitude towards its customers .
The new business class seat on its 777s was designed for Air France by Mark Collins of Design Investment and branding agency Brandimage around a brief to offer three Fs: full flat; full access; and full privacy. Business class passengers will be offered a 16in high-definition touch screen featuring 1,000 hours of entertainment, a padded headboard and adjustable leather headrest, as well as an XXL feather down pillow .
Premium pricing will remain the same following the installation of the new business class seating, says de Juniac: [We will have] no price increase resulting fitness pall from the new product. What we target is an increase in load factor in business class. It has already been demonstrated in KLM when they have put in World Business Class.
KLM began rolling out its new World Business Class cabin across fitness pall its 22-strong Boeing 747-400 fleet in July 2013. Installations on its Boeing 777-200 fleet will begin this summer. KLM chose B/E Aerospace s Diamond lie-flat seats for its business class upgrade.
